One really wonderful thing I love about blogging is that a blog entry does not have to be long. Very often, my typical blog entry can be anything between 100 and 500 words. While it is sometimes worthwhile to spend over an hour crafting a single blog post, we are all busy people and we may not be able to have the luxury of time to sit, read and think.
At this time, one of the most powerful methods I've used to add content to the blog is really to just read a couple of posts from related blogs, pick one to quote and then add your comments. Doing this also allows you to send a trackback to the blog you have quoted, which brings you another incoming link!
It is important to post frequently on your blog. Keeping your blog updated with fresh information tell the search engine spiders "Hey, I have food for you everyday, so do come back everyday for updates!" This way, you will find that your new posts will get indexed and ranked in the search engines very quickly.
So, remember, for blogs, short frequent posts do much better than long winded ones in every two weeks. Read, quote and add your comments - this can easily help you build a short post!
Good luck, and keep blogging!

Blog the way you talk
The key in which many bloggers use to be able to keep up with one more posts per day is to really blog the way you talk. Its easy to talk right?
In fact, blogs need to be conversational in nature, in order to attract repeat traffic. The conversational style puts a personality on the blog! So use more exclamation marks, questions marks, smilies :) and post opinions the way you normally say it. Don't even think about writing your blog in a formal style. Blogs don't work that way.
To start, you might want to even speak as you type - this is great way for you to get used to the conversational style of writing.
With this in mind, you can relax as you type, don't crack your brains over the writing style. This way you can go on to post 3, 4, or even 5 posts a day!
Good luck, and keep blogging!

Say it with pictures
The web is a medium in which you can use to really use multimedia - images, sound and even video to express yourself. However, not many take advantage of this.
Many of us fail to realise that as we write blog post after blog post, the blog becomes a huge bunch of text! While this is great for the search engines, many a time, human visitors who visit your blog will get tired of it easily.
Too much text.
Consider expressing yourself a little with more images. Sometimes the images doesn't have to be too related to the blog posts! The primary purpose of the image is just to add a little more colour to the blog post, and also draw the attention of your reader to the important points.
Here is a post where you can find 10 great resources to get free images off the web.
Use images wisely and you will make your blog post so much more readable!
Good luck, and keep blogging!

Always add value with your comments
With comment spam becoming more and more of an issue today, a lot of spam blocking applications are put in place to evaluate how "spammy" each comment is. Sometimes even an original posted comment will end up in the spam box, just because you violated one of the rules.
How then do you ensure that your comment gets approved?
The key is to add value with your comment.
I am a strong believer that if something does not add value to the web, it should be taken off the web. The same applies to comment. Really read the post carefully, and think before you comment.
You might end up saying a lot in the comment, but it is okay - most people welcome long comments, as long as they provide value.
Valuable comments will also put you in the limelight for that post - and this will get the future visitors for that post to want to get to your blog.
Remember. Add value.
Good luck, and keep blogging!

Keep a notebook and pen with you all the time
The first week of the new year is almost over now, and I hope you have gotten back on your momentum of blogging, writing, thinking, working... whatever you do everyday.
I've been having a rough and busy few days - unexpected things are happening, making me feeling frustrated and also excited.
Today's tip for you is this: Keep a notebook and pen with you all the time!
The best blog post ideas always come when we are doing something else, when we are off our computers, enjoying a date, or lying on the bed, ready to sleep. (at least for me). In order for you not to lose those wonderful ideas, do your best to have a notebook and paper beside you... in your bag, or on your bed dashboard.
That way, you can jot down your ideas immediately (you don't have to write the whole blog post there and then!) and then come back to it later to fill in the details.
Good luck, and keep blogging!

Ge started with an RSS reader
Welcome to the new year!
The first thing I would like to recommend to you this year is to get started with an RSS reader!
Have you ever wondered how the top bloggers have so many things to post about, how they know so much, and get so up to date information?
Yes, through RSS!
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication
Most blogging platforms out there do publish RSS feeds, some in full format, and some in partial format. For example, the feed for this blog is at http://feeds.feedburner.com/GoodBloggingHabits
Blog RSS feeds (most of the time) contain the same text as the blog posts, so what you need to do is to go get an account at an RSS reader like Google Reader, Bloglines, or Newsgator, and then subscribe to the feeds. The next time that blog publishes a new post, your RSS reader will indicate to you that there is a new post for you to read! In this way, you can track dozens of blogs at a go, without having to visit them everyday.
So what are you waiting for? Go get a free RSS reader account now and add this blog's feeds to it!
Good luck, and keep blogging!

Plan your post before you write
As the year comes to an end, many people are reflecting and planning for the new year.
Planning is an important phase in everything - be it about life, your career, strategies for marketing... and blogging.
So the good blogging habit I want to advocate today is to plan your post, before you write.
Very often in a hurry, we just get to our post screen and type away, writing as new thoughts come into our minds. We end up with posts that are unfocused, and stray away from the main topic.
Try this instead. Jot on a piece of paper, what you intend to say for this post... then start typing. If new thoughts come into your head. Jot them down on another piece of paper - and leave them to brew for another post.
Have a wonderful year ahead!
Good luck, and keep blogging!
